Home Gym Equipment Start-Up Guide

Your either on this page because (1) Your getting ready to purchase new Home Gym Equipment...or (2) You have a Home Gym, but need to upgrade home fitness equipment.

Buying new weight lifting equipment can be both exciting...but often confusing and overwhelming if you're not well informed. There is so much variety in todays market, and not all equipment is made to fit everyone. By not doing your homework, you may end up spending a lot of money, only to find out you made a wrong purchase.

Before making any kind of purchase for a home gym...first and foremost, get to know your body. Spend some time at your local gym, and listen carefully to the signals your body sends. You may already know of some troublesome and weak spots, but most of us have more than a few.

Even those with a lot of money can't duplicate a commercial gym, and even if they could, it's quite difficult to get the same feel and atmosphere found only in the best gyms.

What I'm getting at is that a home gym should ONLY be thought of as a supplementation. Continue going to your local gym for major workouts, but use your home gym to target those weak and trouble spots.

There's equipment for just about every body part you can think of...at various grades and quality. Just keep in mind that higher grades of quality will also mean higher credit card bills...so ask yourself, "Do I really need the higher quality model, or can I get away with the lower grade model?".

I've purchased my fare share of home gym equipment. When I was just getting started, I purchased a used standard size weight set and bench. Since then, I've upgraded my home fitness equipment to a more robust commercial grade quality, but this was only after I got a good feel for what I really needed, and what I could do without.
